Home Information Packs (HIPs)

From 10th September Home Information Packs (HIPs) are a mandatory requirement on residential properties for sale with 3 bedrooms or more. This means that 70% of properties being marketed will require a HIP.

Really there are two main points that are relevant to the current selling process and HIP provision:
- The rest of the market (one and two bedroom properties) will require a HIP from the 14th of December 2007
- The transition period for first day marketing has been extended from January 1st until June 1st 2008. Basically this means that agents can market a property as long as they have instructed the HIP
- Additional Leasehold documents that were required in the pack will not be compulsory on ANY property for the next 6 months. The only required document for leasehold properties will be the actual Lease
